SUMMARY:"AI in HVAC Industry: Past\, Present\, and Future"
DESCRIPTION:Recent advancements in conversational Al and machine learning techniques have taken the world by storm where every aspect of our work and daily lives will be impacted by these next generation Al technologies. Using cloud-based computing\, internet information resources\, and rapid advancements in natural language processing and conversational Al\, the HVAC industry can now solve many challenging problems with analysis\, design and operation. This presentation will review the history\, terminology\, concepts\, development tools and application of recent advancements in Al for ASHRAE members; and provide an overview of Al Chatbot and machine learning technologies for HVAC industry applications. \n \nKrishnan Gowri is a Senior Engineering Fellow at Energy Solutions\, leading innovations in building performance analysis for energy code development and implementation. His career includes leadership roles at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (developer of COMcheck and REScheck)\, Autodesk (cloud-based energy modeling integration in Revit)\, and lntertek (energy code compliance and enclosure commissioning}. He currently chairs the 2027 Applications Handbook Subcommittee\, leads ASHRAE’s Generative Al Multidisciplinary Group\, and serves as President of the Puget Sound Chapter. He holds a Ph.D. in Building Engineering From Concordia University. \nClick here to RSVP \nMembers $30 \nNon-Members $40 \nSchedule:\n5:30pm Social Hour\n6-6:15pm Announcements followed by dinner\n6:30pm Presentation

SUMMARY:Lunch and Learn on BABAA Requirements for HVAC
DESCRIPTION:Federally funded projects are increasingly subject to Build America\, Buy America Act (BABAA) requirements\, creating new challenges for HVAC equipment selection\, specification\, procurement\, and compliance. This presentation will provide practical guidance on navigating BABAA requirements and avoiding costly project delays. Drawing on real-world experience from a consulting engineer\, a building owner representative\, and a Vermont Army National Guard project manager\, the presenters will share lessons learned and best practices for successfully delivering compliant HVAC projects. \nThe Build America Buy America Act\, enacted as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act on November 15\, 2021\, established a domestic content procurement preference for all Federal financial assistance obligated for infrastructure projects after May 14\, 2022.  The domestic content procurement preference requires that all iron\, steel\, manufactured products\, and construction materials used in covered infrastructure projects are produced in the United States. BABAA’s objective is to ensure that American tax-payer’s money is used to boost domestic manufacturing by incentivizing infrastructure projects to utilize American-made materials and products.\n\nPresenters:\nEric Sharp\, Energy Manager\, State of Vermont Military Department\nSandra Silla\, Senior Project Manager\, Evernorth\nNick Thiltgen\, Engineer/Project Manager\, Dubois and King Inc.\n  \n \n\nSchedule\n11:45 – Arrival and lunch\n12:00-1:00 – Presentation\n  \nPayment Link in RSVP Form – RSVP
