Lunch and Learn on BABAA Requirements for HVAC

October 14 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Federally funded projects are increasingly subject to Build America, Buy America Act (BABAA) requirements, creating new challenges for HVAC equipment selection, specification, procurement, and compliance. This presentation will provide practical guidance on navigating BABAA requirements and avoiding costly project delays. Drawing on real-world experience from a consulting engineer, a building owner representative, and a Vermont Army National Guard project manager, the presenters will share lessons learned and best practices for successfully delivering compliant HVAC projects.

The Build America Buy America Act, enacted as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act on November 15, 2021, established a domestic content procurement preference for all Federal financial assistance obligated for infrastructure projects after May 14, 2022.  The domestic content procurement preference requires that all iron, steel, manufactured products, and construction materials used in covered infrastructure projects are produced in the United States. BABAA’s objective is to ensure that American tax-payer’s money is used to boost domestic manufacturing by incentivizing infrastructure projects to utilize American-made materials and products.

Presenters:
Eric Sharp, Energy Manager, State of Vermont Military Department
Sandra Silla, Senior Project Manager, Evernorth
Nick Thiltgen, Engineer/Project Manager, Dubois and King Inc.
